These Philippine short stories published in the last 20 years reflect the varied issues faced by contemporary Filipinos --- environmental degradation, sexism, marital dissolution, diasporic loneliness, youthful angst, moral corruption, and even extrajudicial killings. Written by the best writers of the country who write in English, these stories say so much about the inner dreams and concerns of Filipinos who have experienced a lot of personal and communal upheavals in the post-EDSA era. The narrator, who has had personal acquaintance with most of these writers, provides an intimate, personal portrait of each author while preparing the listener for what to expect from each selection. An indispensable audio collection for students and teachers of Philippine literature.
